Hennepin County offers free hazardous waste training classes throughout the year for hazardous waste generators of all sizes.
The training is designed to give a general overview of the hazardous waste regulations. The training also includes regulatory updates and industry examples.
Training sessions are broken into two sessions:
- The morning session from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. covers basic hazardous waste requirements for businesses.
- The afternoon session from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. covers additional requirements for SQGs and LQGs.
The training covers:
- Waste evaluation
- Licensing requirements
- Proper labeling and storage
- Selecting transportation and disposal companies
- Emergency planning
- Record keeping
- Waste minimization and pollution prevention
