Hennepin County offers free hazardous waste training classes throughout the year for hazardous waste generators of all sizes. 

The training is designed to give a general overview of the hazardous waste regulations. The training also includes regulatory updates and industry examples.

Training sessions are broken into two sessions: 

  • The morning session from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. covers basic hazardous waste requirements for businesses.
  • The afternoon session from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. covers additional requirements for SQGs and LQGs.

The training covers:

  • Waste evaluation
  • Licensing requirements
  • Proper labeling and storage
  • Selecting transportation and disposal companies
  • Emergency planning
  • Record keeping
  • Waste minimization and pollution prevention
