As part of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, Hennepin County will be receiving funds to implement the Riparian Restoration and Stream Bank Stabilization Program (RASP).

Purpose

The purpose of RASP is to fund projects that will reduce erosion and stabilize stream banks throughout the county.

Hennepin County has more than 160 miles of streams. These streams are tributary to the three major rivers that border the county: the Crow, Minnesota and Mississippi. Due to urbanization, these streams are being negatively impacted by changes in runoff volume and intensity. Bank erosion is significantly degrading the quality of these streams and downstream receiving waters.

Program criteria

Priority will be given to applicants and projects that:

  • Incorporate the use of the Minnesota Conservation Corps or the Tree Trust
  • Are identified as priority by the local water management organization.
  • Address the erosion and bank stabilization of streams listed as impaired or are tributary to impaired waters.
  • Provide significant leverage of grant funds from other sources.
